Hilary Liddell is a graduate from Auckland Medical School and trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at National Women's Hospital and in London. She held the Tutor Specialist position after returning from England and during this time developed the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at National Women's Hospital. She has published papers on the causes and treatment of miscarriage and developed an original technique for suturing the cervix in particularly difficult cases of cervical incompetence.
After leaving National Women's she focused on developing a gynaecological surgical practice and in the last 10 years especially in advanced laparoscopic surgery. She has visited centres in Oregon, Atlanta and Belgium to train and observe techniques for treating all grades of endometriosis. She specialises in the treatment of this disease as well as the laparoscopic approach to other gynaecological problems such as menstrual disorders and pelvic and vaginal reconstruction. Hilary also has an interest in colposcopy and laser treatment for the management of abnormal smears.
She is married to a specialist gynaecologist and has three children.
